I’m definitely what you’d call a fan of video games in the classic sense — and by “classic” I mean traditional, and by “traditional” I mean old. Am I nostalgic? Not exactly. I’ve just stayed anchored to the idea that some games will never be as cool as the ones I played in the ’80s and ’90s.
I’m not here to trash modern triple-A titles, and I’m not claiming I even fully get them — so I’m not about to hand out lessons on what’s cool and what’s not outside of my own personal taste. What I do know is this: if I’ve got 30 minutes to kill and I want to have fun, I’ll almost always choose a round of Streets of Rage 2 on the Mega Drive over some random PS4 game that — despite the jaw-dropping visuals and production value — has nothing to offer me beyond repetitive mechanics I’ve never liked or understood.
In some ways, I’m a noob. In others, I’m an expert. But one thing’s for sure — I know what I like. And I don’t like predictable, overdone titles.
So what’ll you find in this section? For now, a few League of Legends highlights — I’m a big fan. The rest? We’ll see.
