I\u2019m definitely what you\u2019d call a fan of video games in the classic sense \u2014 and by \u201cclassic\u201d I mean traditional, and by \u201ctraditional\u201d I mean old. Am I nostalgic? Not exactly. I\u2019ve just stayed anchored to the idea that some games will never be as cool as the ones I played in the ’80s and ’90s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m not here to trash modern triple-A titles, and I\u2019m not claiming I even fully get<\/em> them \u2014 so I\u2019m not about to hand out lessons on what\u2019s cool and what\u2019s not outside of my own personal taste. What I do know is this: if I\u2019ve got 30 minutes to kill and I want to have fun, I\u2019ll almost always choose a round of Streets of Rage 2<\/em> on the Mega Drive over some random PS4 game that \u2014 despite the jaw-dropping visuals and production value \u2014 has nothing to offer me beyond repetitive mechanics I\u2019ve never liked or understood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In some ways, I\u2019m a noob. In others, I\u2019m an expert. But one thing\u2019s for sure \u2014 I know what I like. And I don\u2019t like predictable, overdone titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So what\u2019ll you find in this section? For now, a few League of Legends highlights \u2014 I\u2019m a big fan. The rest?
